My Story

Hello Friends!

I’m Rhonda Kaiser, wife and mother to a beautiful daughter. Southern Home & Farm is my pursuit of all things garden, design, vintage décor and farm.

After graduating from Texas A&M University, I studied interior design at the Art Institute and even worked in the natural gas industry for a short while. Inspired by my husband’s grandmother, I eventually found my true passion in floral design and ultimately became certified as a Texas Master Gardener and studied landscape design too at my alma mater, Texas A&M.

Along my journey, my husband and I bought a farm, which has become my escape and the perfect setting for working with gardening and flowers! I’m excited for you to join me on this journey as I continue to find new ways to make our home and outdoor spaces beautiful.

When I’m not working on our home or the farm, you’ll likely find me on Instagram @southernhomeandfarm. I hope you’ll stop by and let me know what speaks to you!

My Mission

fresh flower Southern Home Farm

Southern Home and Farm offers a peaceful escape from the daily grind – from expert to novice gardeners, homesteaders and those in between who enjoy the opportunity to get a glimpse from my perspective. I do this by showcasing curated home, farm and garden scenery while sharing my expertise and select vintage finds. I believe in sharing my knowledge, growing beautiful things, including this community, and by giving back and encouraging others to do the same. I am glad you are here and thankful you are following along the way. Much more to come my friends!

When I established Southern Home & Farm, it was important to me to establish a way to give back to the community that helped shape our lives. Southern Prosperity is our charitable arm that allows us to return blessings to our community—to bring out the best in it and help it thrive.

The Exceptional Foundation of East Alabama

The Exceptional Foundation of East Alabama is a nonprofit organization established to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and provide opportunities for those participants to thrive and be engaged in social and recreational activities.

I had the opportunity to visit my friends and tour the beautiful gardens at EFEA. They recently hosted me and provided an amazing facilities tour and an inside look at day-to-day activities. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon both inside and outside the garden! I made so many new friends, both participants and mentors. This entire group truly embodies their namesake…they are all EXCEPTIONAL!

Mustard Seed Farm and Market

Mustard Seed Farm and Market was created to offer employment and job skill training for adults who have disabilities. Their plan is to provide meaningful work that will help participants gain the skills they need to be successful within the horticulture industry.

I was extremely honored to speak at their Summer Night Seminar Series event on ‘Garden Planning and Design’. We had a an amazing night of garden learning, food, fun and giveaways! Proceeds benefited this extraordinary cause and went towards their capital campaign. They are still in need of a climate controlled building, which will provide an additional safe space for participants to work. Please join me in supporting this remarkable cause!
